Itinerary
- Day 1: Srinagar (1585 m) - Naranag - 2270.76 m
- On arrival at Srinagar, meet and drive to the Naranag district.
- Naranag is a famous basecamp for trekkers to reach Mount Harmukh, Gandarbal, and Satsar lakes.
- Located 50 km away from the main city of Srinagar.
- Reach Naranag by sunset and set your camp near the Wangath River.
- Overnight in the camp.
- Day 2: Naranag - Gangabal - 3505.2 m
- After breakfast, start the journey towards Gangabal, situated at the foot of Mount Harmukh.
- This place is famous for the twin alpine lakes, Gangabal and Nandkol, located at a height of 11,500 ft.
- The trek includes steep trails and pine forests, crossing Butsheri and the meadows of Bodpathri to reach Trunkhol meadow.
- After a 6-hour journey, witness the beautiful sight of Gangabal and Nandkol Lake, with snow-covered mountains in the background.
- Set your camp near Gangabal Lake.
- Overnight at the camp.
- Day 3: Gangabal - Satsar - 3688 m
- After breakfast, start walking towards Satsar Lake, situated at a height of 12,000 ft.
- Satsar Lake consists of seven small alpine lakes resting in the mountains.
- Pass through the meadow of Rasbal, where a flowing river mysteriously goes underground and disappears.
- Explore the beauty of the crystal-clear lakes.
- Overnight at the camp.
- Day 4: Satsar - Gadsar - 3718 m
- After breakfast, begin the trek towards Gadsar Lake.
- Gadsar Lake, resting at 12,500 ft, is one of the highest alpine lakes in Kashmir.
- Surrounded by beautiful alpine flowers, the lake stretches up to 0.85 km in the valley.
- Cross Megandoab and trek towards Kustor Kout, where you will set your camp for the night.
- After covering 12 km, witness the picturesque view of Gadsar Lake and the valley covered in flowers.
- Overnight at the camp.
- Day 5: Gadsar - Krishnasar - Vishnasar - 3660 m
- After breakfast, start walking from Kustor Kout towards Krishnasar Lake, situated at 12,500 ft.
- Krishnasar Lake is the sibling lake of Vishnasar Lake.
- Enjoy an aerial view of both lakes from Gadsar Pass, which stands at 13,800 ft.
- After trekking for 10 km, reach the beautiful Vishnasar Lake in Vishnasar Valley.
- The alpine lake rests at an altitude of 3710 m, reflecting the Krishnasar peak on its crystal-clear water.
- Overnight at the camp.
- Day 6: Vishnasar - Nichnai - 3608 m
- After breakfast, depart from Vishnasar Valley and head towards Nichnai Pass at 11,500 ft.
- Pass through meadows with grazing sheep, indicating the approach to Nichnai Meadow.
- Upon reaching Nichnai Valley, the trails descend.
- Set your camp near the plain land across the river valley.
- Overnight at the camp.
- Day 7: Nichnai - Sonamarg - 3620 m
- After breakfast, trek smoothly down Nichnai Valley.
- Pass through Birch and Bhoj trees while crossing Shekdur Meadow.
- From Shekdur, enjoy a smooth slope lined with Maple Trees.
- After 2 hours of walking, reach Sonamarg Valley, a well-known tourist spot in Jammu and Kashmir.
- Drive back to Srinagar for your onward journey.
